THE OTHER SIDE OF MARCH MADNESS

THE OTHER SIDE OF MARCH MADNESS

By Coach Greg Crowe

Here in Alabama, I just finished my first season not coaching HS basketball in 11 years. As I look back on this season of no coaching, I reflected on the things I missed and could not replace. First and foremost was the relationship with my players and coaches. The early morning practices, the free time before games, team meals, tough practices, tough games, helping guys work through issues on and off the court and most surprisingly, LOSING! I hate losing and I see now that I loved the challenge of redemption after getting outcoached, out played or making a mistake or decision that hurt our team. The challenge of picking yourself up, motivating your guys, watching them mature before your eyes and to see them learn how to compete even in defeat was a life highlight.  You don’t even realize it when you’re in the middle of it!

I worked hard. I coached hard. I was hard on my players and I was even relentless in fundraising with our Boostr Digital Table. I wanted to have the best and we strived to be the best. That’s what I missed. When I watch a game now and I don’t win and I don’t lose. I just go home. Enjoy the competitive life if your coaching. Enjoy the challenge. Enjoy the losses because that where you and your team grow the most and it does not take many to make you hate losing!

Here at Boostr, we take the same playbook in our business and helping schools raise money. We don’t like losing and we want every one of our customers to be successful with our products. We lose a sale every so often and I get to make myself better, figure out where we went wrong and how we can be successful the next time. Don’t’ be stressed out, enjoy the life you are living and grow from it. Don’t let the things you can’t control, control you!
